"Rented several years from Scott Properties and they have been great! Repairs were dealt with quickly. I especially liked that they were courteous and very professional."
"We’ve just started using Scott Properties to manage our new rental property, and so far we have been very impressed with their professionalism, knowledge and experience, and responsiveness. They give us a lot of confidence as first time landlords."
"If I can help anyone looking to rent their home through a company, please take my advice and do not use Scott Properties. My husband and I sold our property in 2021, and when we were able to do a walk-through of the home, I was very disappointed in how the home looked and how it was taken care of. The company assured me at the beginning of renting out our home that they would not rent to college students. However, they did not follow through with this process as a young college girl was living in our home with multiple pets. Our agreement was one small pet, not multiple and with pet fees attached. The carpets and floor was not maintained. We sold our home to an investment group who did not mind how the property looked as they would use it as a rental property as well. This was a blessing for my husband and I, as we would not of had to work on the home ourselves. I did reach out to the company with a video of how the home looked. Within the email I sent, I did discuss how dissatisfied I was with the way the home was taken care of and how many pets were in the home. I never received a response via email or phone. However, fast forward to 2022. My husband and I both received messages and calls from prior tenants asking about mail. I believe this is highly unprofessional as Scott Properties were responsible for giving out our information. Additionally, they would have known that the property was sold summer of 2021. I wish I could add the photos of the home; however, I did delete the photos and the video as it broke my heart that someone would trash a home I worked hard to purchase. UPDATE- I can’t respond to the owner’s reply; however, I would like to address a few things. 1. There was more than two pets, and this was never brought to my attention. It was only due to the walk- through. Your company also failed to look into a young college girl living in the home and caring about the property ( all on her own). This was not an overnight thing. 2. It’s concerning that you would be calling your past tenants liars, as they told us they reached out to you, and you or your company gave them our information. 3. Also, we are very blessed to have sold our home during the height of the housing market, as I’m sure no one would have purchased our home in the condition your company allowed our home to be in."
"I rented properties from Scott Properties of the Midlands from July 2020 until July 2022. My experience with this company was an utter joke. I would NOT recommend renting any property that involves this company. The most egregious item I have share is how they were consistent at taking roughly 30 percent of my security deposit money, claiming that there were "move-in ready" costs assessed against me. I considered the first time it occurred (in July 2021) as a lesson learned, thinking that maybe, just maybe, I may have been slack on an item or two upon moving out. But when it occurred a second time, I realized that Scott Properties of the Midlands was running game against me. I refuse to be silent about it. Today (8.2.2022), I received a check for $1,117.50 out of the $1,530 security deposit for the property I rented from July 2021 until July 2022. Scott Properties of the Midlands billed me $412.50 for hauling costs -- and for what? Upon moving out of the property on 7.1.2022, I e-mailed them 54 pictures of the property, covering both inside and outside. The place was spotless inside, and both the front and back yards were immaculate and maintained. I could only surmise that they charged me for hauling away items out of the garage that were already there when I moved into the property in July 2021. What items we're talking about? A set of roofing shingles. Various containers of paint, including a 5-gallon container that's usually used for commercial purposes, some home repair items (paint brushes, sandpaper, spackle, etc.), and a storage shelf. (See pictures attached.) A dead giveaway about this are the roofing shingles. What tenant is going to pay for roofing shingles at a place that they're RENTING? (I've been a homeowner. I've purchased roofing shingles and used most of them. Eventually, I had to pay for roofing work after a tree fell on the roof.) And what tenant is going to buy a 5-gallon container of paint IF they're renting? Miffed is putting it mildly. Feeling scammed is more appropriate. While I'm at it, on two separate occasions, I received letters from Scott Properties of the Midlands asserting issues that needed immediate resolution with the second property I rented -- both were matters they claim were my responsibility as stipulated in the rental agreement, yet were matters I inherited. The first occurred within weeks upon moving into the second property. The home owners association said bushes along the side of the house needed to be trimmed and/or cut. So that meant I had to purchase gardening equipment to address it. These same bushes were never trimmed or cut prior to me moving there, yet the issue fell upon me. The second involved them claiming I had to pay for re-sodding sections of front-yard grass that were an issue almost immediately upon my moving in. That cost me $300. Does Scott Properties of the Midlands address issues brought up to them? Well, it depends. Let's just say that I brought to their attention on multiple occasions about the backyard fence that was leaning both inward and outward. I sent them pictures of the issue. They sent someone out; that person said he'll bring it up with them, but that's an issue the actual homeowner would have to address. While I'm at it airing out dirty laundry, at various points I had issues with mice at the first property I rented from Scott Properties of the Midlands. I brought it to their attention on multiple occasions. One would think that if there's a rodent issue, surely the property management company would want to address it. Their reply to me was that it was my responsibility to address it."
"I relocated out of the state and chose Scott Properties to manage my property while away. This was my first home and first experience as a Landlord so this entire process was new to me. Scott made it seem effortlessly for me and that I could trust them. Everyone was very professional and responsive until after I became a client. I spoke mainly with Chrissy and because of how unwelcoming I felt when I needed to reach out to her with questions, I felt more compelled to communicate with her through e-mail instead, in which the way she made me feel as a client, did not change. The tenant they quickly selected, that I expressed my concerns about when I was informed a few days before move-in, did not work out. Scott was made aware of the situation with the tenant and didn't follow-up with me when he said which caused me to contact the office and no one was informed. I had to retell what was going on every time I called back to follow up because no one was updating me, as they said they would with where we were in the process. In the end, Calvin provided me with a list of maintenance costs (using their selected vendors) that exceeded the deposit, one of which I know was priced higher than the vendor they selected gave me because I actually spoke with the vendor regarding the service. I decided not to relist with them and my last couple of calls and the last email I sent to Calvin regarding work we discussed, went unanswered. I will not ever personally use Scott Properties again nor will I recommend them to any one."
