Andrew Jackson State Park
Andrew Jackson State Park, located at 196 Andrew Jackson Park Road in Lancaster, South Carolina, is a unique institution that combines history, art, and outdoor activities. The park features a museum with interactive exhibits that showcase Andrew Jackson's boyhood in the South Carolina backcountry. Visitors can also explore a replica 18th-century schoolhouse and admire the striking sculpture "Boy of the Waxhaws" by Anna Hyatt Huntington. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from November 1st to March 31st, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April 1st to October 31st. Museum hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and weekdays by appointment or when staff is available. The schoolhouse is open from mid-March to November, on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
