Nature walks in wildlife refuge in Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Welcome to Little Creek Preserve, a serene natural oasis nestled on Bramans Lane in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Managed by the Aquidneck Land Trust (ALT), this beautiful 15.28-acre park is the newest addition to the Sakonnet Greenway Trail network, offering visitors a unique blend of preserved natural habitats and accessible outdoor recreation. Previously part of a dairy farm, the preserve has been thoughtfully transformed to enhance public enjoyment while safeguarding its ecological treasures. Visitors can explore a half-mile loop of new grass trails that wind through the preserve, while the rest of the land remains a pristine sanctuary for local wildlife. Keep an eye out for songbirds, waterfowl, and hawks, as well as amphibians thriving in the vernal pools.
