Fire damage restoration in Newport, Rhode Island

Welcome to the Alexander Jack Jr. House, a treasured piece of Newport's architectural history, now located at 49 Mill Street, Newport, Rhode Island. Originally constructed around 1811, this two-and-a-half-story structure features a central interior chimney and a gable roof, embodying the popular four-bay plan of its time. Originally situated at the corner of Levin and Thomas Streets, the house was relocated in 1969 to its current location to save it from demolition during the construction of West Memorial Boulevard. This move was part of a pioneering restoration project by the Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF), showcasing early preservation efforts that have shaped the city's urban landscape.
