Recognized as a Biological Diverse Area (B.D.A.) in the Butler County Natural Heritage Inventory, SRGNA offers visitors a unique opportunity to connect with nature amidst an area experiencing growth from industry, residential, and commercial development.Ecological Highlights: SRGNA features a variety of distinct ecological communities. The floodplain forest along the Connoquenessing Creek is dominated by mature Silver Maples and American Basswood. This area boasts a rich, moist soil that supports a diverse array of herbaceous species, including Virginia Bluebells, May Apples, Large White Trilliums, and various violets. Birdwatchers can often spot kingfishers, Northern Rough-Winged Swallows, and Great Blue Herons patrolling the creek waters.Adjacent to the floodplain, the Mesic Central forest community thrives on the steep wooded slopes.
