"I have had a few unsettling encounters with incredibly rude and unfriendly employees. One employee in particular who was putting clothing out began ranting to me and other customers about how awful it is that people buy and resell items from a ‘good Christian store’. She then accused me of taking items from her rack and explained that she will be punished by management or fired if a piece is missing from said rack. This same employee also told me a bizarre story about a child tripping on a clothing rack and attempting to sue her. This should certainly be addressed by a member of management."
"This woman will follow you around the store and make comments about how awful it is that people will resell things purchased there. She goes out of her way to make you uncomfortable and makes up stories about certain aisles being closed or that she’ll get fired if you take anything from her racks. Highly unprofessional and downright mean employee."
"Place has went downhill over the years. Outdated lighting makes it dark inside. Extremely overpriced items along with lots of broken/beyond dirty inventory that should have been either recycled or trashed. Items always missing stickers so they can't sell it. Cashiers always asking for basically exact amount cause they run out of change not even an hour after opening. Kinda gets annoying EVERYTIME. Seen lots of customers having to void sales over that as to only having larger bills. Was told it was corporate policy but I highly doubt that as other SA's I shopped at that were running low called for change an got it. Management has a special needs individual struggling on register. I have no issue with it but does cause lengthy lines/waits to be rang out compared to normal and you can tell they are getting frustrated. Other employees don't seem to hop on the other register to help out least the times I'm there. If it wasn't local I'd definitely past on this one. There are finds at times but few and far between. Pricing definitely needs to calm down on lots of items."
"The Salvation Army in Somerset is becoming a disaster. There is a special needs worker there who management has running cash register. I am all for hiring individuals with disabilities but shame on management for setting this individal up for failure. One person was in front of me and it no joke took 15 minutes for her to ring up 5 shirts and a plate. Then, my total was $8.47. I gave the cashier a $20.00 and she said I cannot take that I have no one's. I said ma'am you would only owe me a ten and one dollar or 4 quarters...she would not accept the $20 despite having numerous ones and tens in her drawer! This worker is always struggling giving customers their change. Shame on management. I know the Salvation Army store in Somerset pays very poorly but take care of the folks you do have. The Salvation Army is an organization who always asks for donations. However, they will not sell you items in the store that do not have price tags. Not a big deal except that A TON of items in the store have no price tags. Don't ask for donations if you aren't letting customers purchase items to make you money for people in need."
"This store brings in anywhere from $3,000 - $9,000 a day. The store is open 6 days a week. Only about 4-6 employees work there a day. Everything sold at the store, furniture, appliances, name brand clothing, is donated. Making the turnover 100% profit. Their workers, who even worked throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic as Essential Workers, get paid only $7.25 an hour. This is one of, if not the lowest paying Employers in the area, and is the lowest paying employer in the Plaza it is a part of. Actually, please allow me to correct myself. In February the workers were given a congratulatory $0.25 cent raise, the "biggest raise they've given in years." A 3% raise to combat the 7% inflation. What is even worse is the fact that is only $0.25 cents more than the Federal Minimum Wage which has not been raised in Thirteen Years. Sad Fact: This is the longest the Federal Minimum Wage has gone without being raised since FDR signed the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. Furthermore, the store is not managed properly. Cashiers are not given change or small bills. They have to exchange them with customers, ive seen customers go next door to the Tractor Supply to try and get small bills. Almost daily workers are still in the store finishing up anywhere from 10 to sometime 40 minutes after clocking out. Because "Corporate will be mad." The way this store is operated is ridiculous."
