Barns-Brinton House
The Barns-Brinton House, located at 630 Baltimore Pike in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is a popular tourist attraction steeped in history. The house was built in 1714 by blacksmith William Barns as a tavern on the major route between Maryland and Philadelphia. After Barns' death, the property was purchased by the Brinton family who owned it for 100 years. Today, the house is owned by the Chadds Ford Historical Society and operates as a museum, offering seasonal tours, historical demonstrations, educational programs, and events. The Research Library at the Barns-Brinton House is available by appointment, where visitors can explore a wealth of historical materials.
