Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies
● OpenGoodwill of the Southern Alleghenies, located at 540-542 Central Avenue in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was established in 1960 by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to create job opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Originally named Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley, the institution has since expanded its services to include vocational rehabilitation, job training, and workforce development programs in eight counties. Over the years, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies has received grants and contracts from various organizations, including the National Industries for the Severely Handicapped and the U.S. Department of Labor. The institution operates several retail stores and donations centers in the region, providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. In addition, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies offers programs such as YouthBuild® Johnstown and Learn to Work℠ to help at-risk youth and individuals with mental illness gain valuable skills and work experience. With a focus on promoting independence and dignity, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies continues to serve the community and support individuals in achieving their full potential.
