The Dale P. Latimer Library
The Dale P. Latimer Library, located at 300 Fraser Purchase Road in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, is a prestigious institution at Saint Vincent College. Named in honor of Dale P. and Darlene M. Latimer, who generously contributed to its renovation, enhancement, and endowment, the library holds a special place in the college's Benedictine educational tradition. Established in 1846 with just 100 books, the library has grown to house nearly 210,000 print volumes, audio CDs, DVDs, and microforms. With a wide range of periodicals, e-journals, and databases, the library serves as a vital resource for students, faculty, and the local community. Open 35-40 hours per week during the academic year, the library offers borrowing privileges to enrolled students, faculty, and staff, as well as access to the general public. Special collections in religion and theology, Pennsylvania history, and Benedictine literature can be found within the library's walls, along with a climate-controlled vault housing rare books. The library also houses the Saint Vincent College Archives, overseen by Archabbey and College Archivist Guy J. Davis.
