Originally named Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley, the institution has since expanded its services to include vocational rehabilitation, job training, and workforce development programs in eight counties. Over the years, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies has received grants and contracts from various organizations, including the National Industries for the Severely Handicapped and the U.S. Department of Labor. The institution operates several retail stores and donations centers in the region, providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. In addition, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies offers programs such as YouthBuild® Johnstown and Learn to Work℠ to help at-risk youth and individuals with mental illness gain valuable skills and work experience.
