Lehighton Boys and Girls Band
The Lehighton Boys and Girls Band, located at 197 South 6th Street in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, has been a staple in the community for over 100 years. Offering instrumental music lessons for students in Grades 4 – 12, the band serves not only Lehighton but also the surrounding regions including Jim Thorpe, Palmerton, and Tamaqua. Originally known as The Engine Co. #2 Boys Band in 1910, the band evolved into the Lehighton Boys Band in 1911 before eventually becoming the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band in 1981 when girls were allowed to join. The band is operated by a nine-member Board of Directors elected from the community and membership.
