Located in the scenic North Park, the historic 2 million gallon North Park Swimming Pool is a perfect destination for aquatic fun and relaxation. As part of Allegheny County's extensive recreational facilities, North Park Swimming Pool offers a variety of features to accommodate guests of all ages and abilities. The pool provides a mechanical lift for easy access to the shallow end, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors. Additionally, it includes a zero-depth baby pool and a splash pad area, making it an ideal spot for families with young children.
For those seeking more water adventures, Allegheny County also boasts wave pools at Boyce, Settlers Cabin, and South Parks. These wave pools have a unique water entry ramp starting at one inch depth, gradually leading to deeper water. For even more summer fun, don't miss the spray parks located in Deer Lakes and Round Hill Parks.
Operating Hours:
- Daily: 11:30 am - 7:00 pm
- Note: If the pool does not open by 2:00 pm due to inclement weather, it will remain closed for the rest of the day.
- Open from June through Labor Day Weekend, weather and conditions permitting.

"My friend took me to the pool. It cost $5 to get in. My friend brought us some beach chairs. The pool and Splash park were huge. It was busy but it's so big nobody bothered anyone. They also have an obstacle course for the older kids. The changing rooms and bathrooms were clean! I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!"
"My friend and I, both under 17, went to the north park pool under a week ago and they let us in and everything was fine. We had a great time and there were no problems. We tried going today and apparently we need a chaperone because we aren’t 17 or older?? We don’t have anyone able to “chaperone” us, and now we can’t go swimming. This is so disappointing. Definitely won’t be coming back."
"Lots of fun but you guys need to get better at cleaning the pool. There's a bunch of sticks and leaves in the deep end and the pool deck is covered in debris. Just a little leaf blow before the pool opens would be nice."
"Recommendations for the a first time lap-swim visitor. This is the largest outdoor pool in the US measuring 105x50m. So, lap swim lanes are always Olympic length. During my visit there were about 6 or 7 lap swim lanes, 4 of which were busy with clubs and lifeguard training and the rest had 1-4 swimmers at a time. Parking is ample, the lockers are smallish and consume a quarter, non-resident entry is 8$ and cards are accepted, bring a beach towel to chill on the grass by the pool. Haven't seen any water fountains, but there is water for purchase. Showers are clean, shower water is cool and nobody seems to use either. Pool closes in case of thunder and sprinkles, so, may close early on a humid summer afternoon."
"I have been to many pool in and around the surrounding area. I must say that I am highly impressed with North Park Swimming Pool. I love the diversity! Everyone is welcome and made to feel welcome! There is plenty of parking around the pool. Prices are reasonably comparable to other community pools. The pool and the park around the pool area are well maintained and very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a large locker room with lockers/key. The pool is huge! There is an obstacle course, water slide, toddler area, and spray park area. There are many options at the concession stand. Again, most important and very appreciated was the diversity at North Park Pool."
