"A young realtor named Tony A met us at Cooke Dr, 15234 to let us inside to perform a Uniform Construction Code electrical inspection on behalf of Castle Shannon Borough on 5/23/24. Tony wore gym shorts to our meeting and was generally unkempt. Tony was representing the homeowner of the property who lives out of state and could not attend the inspection. Tony's out-of-state client conversed in text messages to us that we could expect payment at the time of service (which is required) and that they would speak with their realtor (Tony) in order to set it up. We parked behind Tony A on 5/23/24 because no street-parking is permitted on either side of the road at that address. At the end of our inspection, and after our findings and report were submitted digitally to the homeowner, Tony exclaimed he did not have any money. We stood firm in the regard that payment for services is expected at the time of service - much as one would not go to the supermarket and walk out of the store with a full cart and a promise to the cashier to pay later. We asked if we could attempt to get in contact with his out-of-state client via phone call, as despite the potential misunderstanding with Tony and his customer, we will be collecting payment for our State Inspection before we leave the property. Instead of working to come to an amicable solution for us, Tony expressed his disassociation with the event, saying, "I don't care." Tony resorted to expletives and name-calling almost immediately, and his stern advice for the situation was for us to file a lien against his customer's property. Tony followed this up with threats of violence and promises of physical altercation. All in a span of about 8 minutes, until his out-of-state customer could issue us payment electronically. Tony did not seem to want to be bothered with his occupation, or to act professionally on behalf of his employer. He had snide remarks inside his customer's home about its state of affairs and condition. Tony may be a disgruntled employee who has had enough of his current life-situation, choosing to act out against others. Later in the day, Tony took to various Internet pages and made comments about his experience with our inspection, expressing to take note to whomever may read it, that, "I'm (Tony) twice the guys (sic) size (sic) so I wasn't really worried enough ... but if I was (sic) a woman or someone that (sic) would have felt threatened easily (sic) this situation would have been terrifying." Do Tony's words want us to believe that he is an advocate for violence, as he types and posts them unprovoked? Does he also mean to insinuate that all women feel threatened easily? Does he want us to support a feeling he has that there are three types of people - men (who don't feel threatened easily); men (who do feel threatened easily); and women (who ALL feel threatened easily)? What does Tony mean by his Internet posts? We don't support this kind of rhetoric, and we instead choose to treat all persons and creeds of people equally. I would not want a realtor as an advocate who thinks they could speak down to or treat me on any level like I am any less of a person than they are. Tony left our company, Stockhausen, Kevin C., a one-star review on Google. Tony advocated for a "buddy" to post another one-star review of us on Google, within an hour of Tony's. Detailed responses can be found on our Google page. Lastly, Tony expressed his lack of empathy for the situation vocally to me as something along the lines of "I just don't get paid enough for this." He mentioned that he basically works for free until the home sale closes. The question I would pose to the Internet however is, "is this the company and the type of people I want representing me and my most valuable resource?" Maybe Deacon & Hoover can consider increasing their commission rates or charging for home visits if they feel they are not being compensated properly. It's not right to take it out on the rest of us. We all deserve respect, and our entire interaction was lacking in it."
"I am a current tenant of a home that was put up for sale without my knowledge. Imagine waking up to a for sale sign in your front yard. That was me. The owner of the property had an appraiser in our property a week ago, but nothing was talked about putting pictures of our personal property online My complaint is that this company's REALTOR (Adam Gleve) willingly posted pictures of the inside of the property we are renting without my consent. These pictures included those of our children and my wife. It doesn't take a couple Real Estate courses to understand the privacy issues with this and the fact that it's illegal. To Adam's credit, after a very spirited conversation, he removed most of the pictures. My issue is there should have been ethical and professional standards in place before it happened. A little common sense would be a valuable resource as well. Again, it's pretty obvious that these pictures should've never been posted. This is unacceptable behavior by a company that should show the utmost professionalism when dealing with clients, non-clients or 'potential future clients.' A formal complaint has been logged with the Pa. Real Estate Commission."
"I have worked with DHRE, specifically Ian Hoover, for over five years and he has been a trusted advisor through the purchase of my family home as well as multiple investment properties. Ian provides honest feedback and truly wants us to succeed - there have been many times my husband or I have shared a property with Ian and he's advised us of potential concerns or issues to be aware of, rather than simply moving forward to make a sale that would not benefit us long-term. We trust Ian's advice and have recommended him to friends and family whose experiences echo our own. In addition, Ian has gone above and beyond as a valuable resource for things well outside the "norm" of what's expected - providing guidance around tenants, leases, repairs, etc. Thank you Ian & DHRE for helping us to grow as both home owners and investors!"
"I have been working with Ian Hoover since 2017 and he is the absolute best. He has not only been effective at finding the properties I am looking for but also has provided support for items that have come up long after closing. He is more than agent - he is a valuable resource. I recommend him and Deacon Hoover to all of my friends family and colleagues."
"Over the last several months I have had the pleasure of working with Deacon & Hoover Real Estate Advisors leadership and their agents. Each agent has been professional and a true pleasure to work with. They have gone above and beyond in every transaction. I would recommend them to my friends and family."
