Silke Field
Silke Field is a historic stadium located at 849 North 10th Street in Springfield, Oregon, United States. Commissioned and completed in 1953 under the leadership of Superintendent Eugene H. Silke, the field was named in his honor. Designed with input from Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, the Silke Field Track is one of the last 440-yard tracks in the state. The stadium has hosted legendary events, including a high school meet featuring Steve Prefontane in 1968. Silke Field is a true grass stadium and a source of pride for Springfield Public Schools. The track was upgraded in 2007 with the installation of an Atlas L-3000 track, made with recycled Nike Grind rubber material.
