The Marylhurst School
The Marylhurst School, located in Oregon City, Oregon, is an independent, progressive school founded in 1972. Serving children from preschool through 8th grade, our 38-acre campus is filled with native trees and plants, providing a unique learning environment. Our teachers and students work together to create experiences that inspire curiosity, physical activity, initiative, and critical thinking. We focus on helping children develop a strong sense of self, a love for learning, and a sense of responsibility to their community and the world. Our curriculum is play-based and emergent in the preschool and pre-K classrooms, while in Kindergarten through 5th grade, we foster intellectual, creative, social, and physical development. Middle school students engage in yearlong thematic studies and student-directed learning, supported by mentor-apprentice relationships. Our goal is to attract a diverse student body that contributes to and benefits from our inclusive environment.
