Univ of Ok-Biological Survey
β ClosedThe University of Oklahoma Biological Survey, located at 111 Chesapeake Street in Norman, Oklahoma, is a unique institution that serves as both a state agency and a research department. The Biological Survey includes the Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory, Oklahoma Natural Areas Registry, and the Robert Bebb Herbarium. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing the most up-to-date information on biodiversity in Oklahoma through surveys, inventories, and research projects. We also collect, curate, and share existing biodiversity data, as well as offer training to students and the public in biodiversity science. We collaborate closely with other organizations in the state and region to achieve our goals. One of our recent projects includes the development of a comprehensive website by Dr. Caryn Vaughn that focuses on all the mussels found in Oklahoma. We also host Field Days, which provide the public with the opportunity to visit Natural Areas not typically open to the public, where they can learn about managing land for native biodiversity and witness habitat restoration projects in action.
