1889 Territorial School
● OpenThe 1889 Territorial School, located at 124 East 2nd Street in Edmond, Oklahoma, is a historic one-room schoolhouse that played a significant role in the early education of the region. Built by Jennie Forster and the Ladies School Aid Society in 1889, this schoolhouse is considered the earliest of its kind in the Oklahoma Territory. Today, the schoolhouse is owned by the Edmond Historic Preservation Trust, who offer tours to the public on select days. Visitors can learn about the history of the schoolhouse and its importance in shaping education in the area. The schoolhouse was restored as an Oklahoma Centennial Project and reopened to the public in 2007.
