James A. Garfield National Historic Site
The James A. Garfield National Historic Site, located at 8095 Mentor Avenue in Mentor, Ohio, is a museum and tourist attraction dedicated to the life and legacy of President James A. Garfield. The site features his historic home, including the front porch where he greeted supporters during his presidential campaign in 1880. Guided tours of the Garfield home are available daily, with specific tour times varying so it is recommended to call ahead. Visitors can join rangers and volunteers at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater on April 8 to view a total solar eclipse. Wildwood Cultural Center & Park
The Wildwood Cultural Center & Park, located at 7645 Little Mountain Road in Mentor, Ohio, is a historical gem that offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities for the community. Originally built by the Oliver family in 1908, the estate was purchased by the City of Mentor in 1980 and has since been recognized on the National Register of Historic Homes. The Cultural Arts Division at Wildwood Cultural Center provides programs, courses, and special events throughout the year, including live musical and theatrical performances. The 34-acre estate features hiking trails, picnic areas, and beautiful gardens, making it a perfect venue for weddings, seminars, parties, and other functions.
