The park was purchased by the Park District Foundation in 2014 through an estate gift from Carole E. Hermon. Carole's donation helped leverage funds for the park's development and also secured a Clean Ohio Fund grant. One of the key features of Hermon Woodlands is the ImagiNature Playscape, which offers children and families the opportunity to play and use their imagination in a natural setting. Activities include fort building, tree climbing, creek exploration, and more. Another unique feature is the Storybook trail, where families can read together while hiking along the south trail.
