Miami Chapel Cemetery
β OpenWelcome to Miami Chapel Cemetery, a historic landmark nestled at 6210 River Road in Fairfield, Ohio. As a serene resting place and a treasure trove for history enthusiasts, Miami Chapel Cemetery offers a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Fairfield's past. This quaint quarter-acre cemetery is home to markers dating back centuries, reflecting a time when burials often took place on individual farms. Originally known as Black Bottom, then Fair Play, the cemetery was named Miami Chapel following the construction of a church on the grounds around 1843. Among its notable interments is Joseph Catterlin, a Revolutionary War soldier laid to rest here in 1822. The cemetery also serves as the final resting place for a War of 1812 soldier and four Civil War veterans, each marker telling a story of bravery and sacrifice.
