Middlebury Pottery & School
● OpenMiddlebury Pottery & School, located at 1940 Crystal Drive in Akron, Ohio, is a renowned institution founded by Bob Yost. Bob's passion for clay was ignited by his high school art teacher, Ms. Peggy Forman, who introduced him to the Japanese firing technique of Raku. After earning a BFA in ceramics from The University of Akron, Bob became the resident potter at Hale Farm and Village, specializing in 19th century salt-glazed ware. Bob's dedication to the art of pottery led him to establish Yost Tile, a custom ceramic tile production facility, and Middlebury Pottery School in 1995. At Middlebury Pottery School, students can enroll in both credited and non-credited classes to learn the craft of pottery from a master in the field. Additionally, Bob founded the Ohio Canal Clay Guild to further promote the art of ceramics in the community.
