The museum features a special exhibit called "Discovering Black Youngstown," which won the 2024 Ohio Academy of History Public History Award. Developed by Dr. Donna M. DeBlasio and her students at Youngstown State University, this exhibit will be on display until May 2025. The museum offers a limited amount of free on-site parking, with additional parking available on the street or for a fee from YSU. Visitors can book a tour by calling 330-941-1314 and should note that the museum will be closed on certain dates, such as Easter weekend and Thanksgiving week.
