Northern Pacific Railway Depot
β OpenThe Northern Pacific Railway Depot, located at 701 Main Avenue in Fargo, North Dakota, is a historic landmark that has been standing since 1898. Designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert, this station features a distinctive overhanging roof and red tiles, making it a standout in the city. Currently, it serves as the home to the Fargo Park District staff. The Northern Pacific Railway was the first major railroad to pass through Fargo, and in 1971, the depot and its grounds were deeded to the city by Burlington Northern, the successor to the railway. Since then, efforts to preserve and restore this historic building have been ongoing. In 1975, the depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a campaign was launched to renovate its interior.
