Jake Rusher Park
● OpenJake Rusher Park, located at 132 State Road 3174 in Arden, North Carolina, is a historic institution with a rich past. Originally part of the Royal Pines neighborhood, the park was once home to the Royal Pines Club, Recreation Center, Pool, and Skateboard Park owned by Jake Rusher. This popular hangout spot hosted performances by famous artists such as The Supremes, the Isley Brothers, and Bo Diddley. In 1999, Rusher donated the land to the City of Asheville, leading to the transformation of the park into a community space. Recent improvements include a pavilion, restroom building, sport courts, playground, and accessible sidewalks. The park also offers programming for children, teens, and adults, with scholarships available for youth and teen programs.
