Embassy Suites by Hilton Wilmington Riverfront

"Filthy and falling apart. This place has so much potential, but it's clear they have no one in charge who cares about the details. Carpet has probably never been cleaned in our room. It's stained and just disgusting. We found an old dog treat under the couch. The shower handle in our room barely works, I'm afraid to touch it because I might rip it out of the wall. There a huge drywall patch under the window. No big deal, just a constant reminder that the place is a wreck. The toilet paper holder is falling off the wall, and it was clearly "fixed" by maintenance... but I'm pretty sure they used bubble gum. We had someone come into our room for turndown service, but they just hung up one towel, left an extra roll of toilet paper and that was it. No refill on coffee, no refreshed coffee cups, bed still messy... I've never seen that before. No wonder the place is so filthy. We noticed in the hallways nothing is dusted, also. The swimming pool had a big wad of gum left by the ladder and we went swimming at 8am. Likely left overnight. The breakfast was OK. The valet guys are nice. The front desk was nice. That's the only reason this place gets 2 stars. + *edit* - raised to 3 stars after management contacted me about these issues. They will be working with housekeeping and maintenance. They are also doing some renovations, so some items fell through the cracks. We will likely give them another shot. Appreciate them being willing to accept the feedback and act accordingly."

"This has been the worst experience. To start off they charged us to park in a totally empty parking lot. When I went to get breakfast, I asked for a tray to carry my food to the room as I had a loaded plate and 2 very hot drinks. I was told they couldn't give me a tray but was never told why. They definitely had room service. I ended up spilling my plate in the elevator trying to push the button on the elevator. I went yo the front desk to explain what happened and when the front desk clerk decided to look up and help me, all I got was a blank look. WORST PLACE EVER!creepy! So Embassy just replied to my review. They should be ashamed to post that reply and then say at the end they hope I come back. When hell freezes over will I spend my money at ANY HILTON PROPERTY."

"Did not have the best experience. This Embassy Suites really wasn’t up to par with some others I have stayed at. First off - Hilton honors gold member. Arrived at the hotel and had booked a 2 queen suite river view. Upon checking in the desk person (did not say sorry) said I was confirmed in a King room. I informed her that no I had specifically booked a queen room because it was me and my sister traveling. She told me we could just have one of us sleep on the sleeper sofa!?! Everyone knows sleeper sofas are not comfortable. I continued to say that was not acceptable and she told me they were full and there was nothing they could do despite me being a gold member and that I had booked the queen room. 5 minutes into this after me still having to say this was not acceptable she said there is nothing we can do again because we we full but she could let me talk to the manager. We were staying 2 nights and there was no apology or acknowledgement of the room I had booked just they couldn’t accommodate it. After waiting for her to talk to the manager he never came out but she did come back and say they had switched our room and we had 2 queen beds now. For a gold member not acceptable at all!? Also was not given or offered the snacks with my way rewards. After fighting over the room so long and just wanting to settle in I didn’t even ask. Booked a riverview room. A little misleading as basically we could only see the large roof with equipment with a river in the background. Definitely wasn’t worth an upgrade. Have stayed here before with better views. This room really shouldn’t be sold as river view but whatever we weren’t in the room too much (330). (See photo). Room inside was nice otherwise minus the barely there river view. And see photos - the shower shot mold out at me when I adjusted the nozzle and got ice from the ice machine with yucky gunk in it. Breakfast was not even edible. So gross. Potato’s cold and gross. Omelet was ordered but the staff member let it sit so long it was crispy!? And the bacon was disgusting and also had that in my omelet. Not good at all. One of the worst embassy breakfasts I have had. But don’t worry they give you a tab asking for a tip. Managers reception snacks also not on par with other embassy. Just like goldfish tortilla chips and hummus or something. But went at 6pm and it was busy and snacks were mostly empty anyhow. Too many people in a small space so we didn’t stay. But seriously they advertise premium spirits with the room but the choice of spirit is Gordon’s vodka!? Embassy - no one wants your cheap drinks. Do a happy hour with specials or something instead. Yuck!! And a major line for crappy free drinks so we didn’t bother. No problem. Otherwise the parking was fine and it is a good location but I was wishing I had booked the hotel ballast which I was between the ballast and embassy - that was more centrally located and was extremely disappointed from start to finish with this embassy suites. Never was recognized as a gold member at all either. All in all a disappointment. But thankfully after a lot of complaining we finally had 2 beds and the room was otherwise comfortable minus the comments mentioned."

"It’s sad not being able to trust your place of stay. We accidentally left behind some items and realized immediately after checkout. These items were meaningful to us. We called within 45 minutes and followed up for days following. Each time we were told our items were never found. We are positive we left them in our room and know exactly where we left them. Very upsetting. Also, if you have a baby, hopefully they’ll be a bit more responsive for you if you need a portable crib. We had to wait 3 hours."

"Probably the worst Embassy Suits I’ve ever stayed in.. Please for the love of everything STOP putting barn doors on bathrooms. No one wants to hear what people do in the bathroom, and why are the doors so loud and heavy just sliding them. Room door is also unnecessary loud to open and close.. Refrigerator is not cold. For a booked room of 4 people, they only like to give 3 towels. I had to call the desk 3 times just to get an extra towel. TV remote doesn’t work well, making it annoying to flip through channels. Also, not a fan of the community soap products. Also please rewrite how the room is, if you say two rooms.. I expect two rooms, not a room with two beds and a couch and desk in the next. Couch was nasty and extremely uncomfortable. This is pointless for someone who has to sleep on it. Just make it a real bed. No hot tub with the indoor pool. Rooms definitely need an upgrade. Bed was comfortable, bartenders were great. Restaurant was wonderful."
