Steps to adopt a pet in North Carolina

The Humane Society Scotland County, located at 1401 West Boulevard in Laurinburg, North Carolina, is dedicated to finding shelter pets loving forever homes through local adoptions or rescues. Beginning in 2024, there will be a $25 non-refundable processing fee for applications, which will go towards the adoption fee. Adopting a pet is a match made in heaven, and the first step is filling out an application online or in person. The shelter also offers spaying/neutering vouchers on Tuesdays in April and assistance for those with Medicaid or Food Stamps in Scotland County. The application process is thorough to ensure the right match, and approval may take 1-2 weeks. Once approved, a Meet & Greet is scheduled for you to meet the shelter pet before finalizing the adoption. The adoption fee includes various services for the pet while in the shelter's care. Please note that the shelter does not offer veterinary services to the public and is not currently taking owner surrenders.
