"Great little trail along the water. This trail is about 1 mile total (out and back). We saw lots of birds, frogs, and a groundhog. There are other trails you can go on that are longer. You have to cross 3 streams in your car to get here."
"Fun 1 mile in and back trail. Get to see some history with part of the old canal wall still intact. Trail is between river and railroad track. Have a few fun obstacles to go through. I think if water level is lower you could probably get to some of the islands. Was fun crossing the three creeks to get to parking. Depending on water level, I would not try with anything less than a truck or Jeep."

"Great place to walk or run. No camping allowed as the parking and gates close at 8pm but there is camping in the area. Just check out the maps."
"Actually ended up walking down to the Yadkin River across the train tracks and then hiking part of the horse trail that ends near there. Plan to do the Canal Trail on my next trip. This was on a nice weekend when other Parks were quite crowded but due to the access to get to this area hardly anybody here. We drive a Toyota RAV4 front wheel drive and our ground clearance was just enough to get us across the second Creek Crossing. I would not try it with anything lower and I would not try it in my vehicle if the water was up any. Also went to nearby Pilot Mountain State Park. Both are very nice and we will be back. Thanks to the ranger who I spoke with. He gave us directions to get to the river section, he was very helpful and gave great details."
