North Carolina Arts in Action is a nonprofit institution located in Carrboro, North Carolina, dedicated to teaching children life skills through dance and music. Our programs are accessible to all students regardless of abilities and socio-economic status, empowering children in elementary schools statewide. Our Executive Director, Marlon Torres, believes in placing the arts at the center of children's lives. We are currently raising funds to reach more children in Title 1 public schools in the Triangle area. Thanks to the generous support of the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, we have successfully met a $500,000 matching grant to fund our growth. We are now just $31,000 away from reaching our total campaign goal of $1.3 million by June 31.

This historic mill is the centerpiece of Historic Yates Mill County Park and is the only fully restored, operational automatic mill in North Carolina. Privately owned for centuries, the mill was last used in the 1950s before falling into neglect. However, thanks to the efforts of Yates Mill Associates, a non-profit organization formed in 1989, the mill was restored and preserved for future generations to enjoy. Yates Mill Associates works tirelessly to maintain the mill and has developed a public/private partnership with North Carolina State University and Wake County Parks to develop the surrounding land into a nature park. The park, known as Historic Yates Mill County Park, offers visitors a chance to explore the history of the mill and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
