Fryingpan Mountain Lookout Tower
Located near Mt. Pisgah in Pisgah National Forest, the Fryingpan Mountain Lookout Tower offers breathtaking panoramic views that are even better than those from atop Mt. Pisgah itself. This 70-ft. tall tower, built by the United States Forest Service in 1941, is the tallest USFS lookout tower in Western North Carolina and is now a part of the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can take a short 1.5 mile round-trip hike from the Blue Ridge Parkway to reach the tower, where they can climb five flights of stairs to just underneath the top platform.
