Myron Boon Hall
Myron Boon Hall is a new academic building located at 110 Lower College Road in Swannanoa, North Carolina. This two-story, 15,000-square-foot building is home to the Social Sciences Division and the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. Designed by architects at Lord Aeck Sargent, the building features flexible classrooms, meeting spaces, faculty offices, and a large multi-use atrium. The walls between rooms are movable, allowing for various group sizes, and the building incorporates technology to support distance learning and other networking modalities. Although the green building certification is not yet complete, Myron Boon Hall was designed to meet LEED Gold standards. The Grand Opening of Myron Boon Hall marked the culmination of a $6-million academic building project for Warren Wilson College. The building stands where the historic Carson Hall once stood, offering sweeping views of the college farm, garden, Swannanoa River, and the Swannanoa Mountains beyond. The community's strong support is evident in the more than 160 individuals and 14 foundations that made gifts towards the building, with trustees alone pledging over $1.5 million. The building also symbolizes a focus on academic excellence and growth at Warren Wilson College.
