"My ex-husband, Joel Eizenstat, who has early stage Alzheimer's recently got lost hiking near Hayesville. Just before his phone died, he called 911. The Clay County Sheriff's dept responded immediately and with all available resources! He was found within 48 hours, after diligent search teams worked tirelessly (sometimes in very inclement weather, and in very poor visibility) to locate him. Other than being dehydrated and confused, he was in good condition.His three children will be forever grateful for the efforts of the police dept., firefighters and volunteers who gave of their time and energy to bring him safely back to family. We cannot thank you enough for all that you did to give us a happy ending to what could have been a terrible tragedy!"
