"The owner was loudly and passionately outlining her beliefs to another customer about interracial relationships being wrong and even went so far as to say “the Bible says birds of a feather should flock together.” She also thinks the Bible should be taught in schools and teaching history is questionable. We used to stop everytime we’re in Blowing Rock and enjoyed honey, local butter and cheese, jams, toys, glass bottle sodas, peanuts, all sorts of things. We’ll be switching to store across the way. It’s one thing to have political beliefs that conflict with mine, it’s another to be loudly and proudly spewing hateful views."

"Black bear is a pleasant country store that our family (nearly) always visits every time we take a trip to Blue Ridge Mountain. The owners are super friendly and we just love the things they sell. The garden bench they sell is of excellent built, and don’t ever forget to buy their bacon jam, it was delicious! And while you’re at it, don’t forget to buy their shirt, hats, apples, ciders and all manners of unique stuff!"
"A store you must visit if you are traveling towards Boone from Charlotte. Very friendly service. One of the best customer service. Very friendly and genuine service. The jams are very delicious, make sure to buy lots of them. The furniture are also awesome. Clothing apparels are good, they have many selections. All of the goods are reasonably priced."
