"As a physician myself, I can state unequivocally that Dr. Houck is one of the best I have encountered. We took our then very young son to see him a few months after a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease, and I credit Stokes with giving him back a normal childhood. His caring and expertise were worth every inch of the 200 mile round trip required to see him. I give him my highest recommendation."

"Did fine treating my daughter for celiac disease until she developed anorexia nervous. Then he poo poo-Ed her extreme weight loss as “ teenage girl drama”. She ended up requiring inpatient treatment for anorexia. His attitude deteriorated the little progress I had made with my daughter. Absolutely unprofessional"

"I would give a million negative stars if I could. There is not a single day in the last 7 years that this man hasn’t been a part of my nightmares. 7 years ago I brought my newborn little boy to him for projectile vomiting and constant crying with constipation and little weight gain. For months he said it was reflux and kept prescribing reflux meds. Upping the dosage. It wasn’t working. When my son vomited blood one day, I took him back. I was a scared mother trying to trust her instincts and requested an X-ray of my son’s belly. Dr Houck told me I was being a paranoid mother and to he was the doctor. Bad day or not, that was inappropriate. At 4 months of age I had to rush my tiny newborn sized son to Levine’s Children’s Hospital because he was vomiting every five minutes for days and it was brown. It was over a weekend when I took him in. He was admitted immediately and I learned my son in fact was suffering from Pyloric Stenosis that was misdiagnosed by Dr Houck as acid reflux and dismissing me and my son. The doctors at the Children’s hospital (and still to this day when drs ask his medical history) were absolutely horrified that my son made it to four months with Pyloric Stenosis. (It’s usually caught around 5 weeks of age and corrected). My son was severely malnourished by that time and dehydrated and I was told he wouldn’t have even lived past that weekend had I waited to take him to the doctor. Thankfully, the amazing doctors at Levine’s children’s hospital took care of my son and he immediately had surgery and years of physical therapy afterwards. I do not care how many stars this doctor gets. STAY AWAY FROM HIM AND HIS PRACTICE. My son almost died from him being dismissive. I don’t want any other parent to EVER have to go through what my son and I did. I am very lucky that my son is still here today because I listened to my instincts and took my baby to the hospital despite what this doctor said. So yeah...a million negative reviews. I’m surprised he still works in medicine."

"We can't review Dr. Houck because we can't get an appointment. His office has received the referral to see Dr. Houck on six different occasions. Referrals that were faxed directly to his office well over a month ago. We have called repeatedly to schedule an appointment only to be told you don’t have a referral, and when the staff found a copy last week his office requested our sons medical records prior to scheduling the appointment. But not the whole record, just the last two office visits. None of his previous diagnostic procedures, x-rays or labs, just notes from his last two office visits. Today we called again to confirm their fax number so we could send a medical records release, but I was informed again incorrectly they don’t have our son's referral and the referral clerk was rude and hung up on us. I think it’s safe to say my son will not be seen by Dr. Houck as they have made it plain they have no wish to see him. If Novant Health and Dr, Houck don’t wish to see Tricare military patients I recommend you leave the network. The rude clerk and bureaucratic problems with processing a referral aside I hear good things about this provider."
