Valle Crucis Community Park
Valle Crucis Community Park is a popular tourist attraction located at 2892 Broadstone Road in Banner Elk, North Carolina, United States. Our park offers a variety of activities and events for visitors to enjoy, including environmental education programs, bird watching, exploring wetlands, and activities along the Watauga River. Our Board of Directors and Park Leadership are currently working on creating a strategic plan to guide our work over the next three years. We value input from our key stakeholders, including Board Members, Staff, Donors, Sponsors, and Park Visitors. We have created a survey to gather feedback and insights to inform our plans, and we encourage you to participate.
Book Exchange at the Historic Banner Elk School
The Book Exchange at the Historic Banner Elk School is a charming library located at 185 Azalea Circle Southeast in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Currently closed for construction until April 16, the institution offers academic tutoring programs and summer enrichment classes at Banner Elk Elementary School, funded by a grant from the High Country Charitable Foundation. Once reopened, the Book Exchange's hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed on Saturdays until May). Please note that the library is run by volunteers, so substitutions may not always be possible if a scheduled volunteer is unable to make it. The 2024 Book Discussion Group runs through October, with the Bluegrass Jam returning in March. Located in the beautiful stone school in downtown Banner Elk, the Book Exchange welcomes visitors through the front door. Please be aware that volunteer staffing may be affected by inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
