Achievement Academy of Durham
● ClosedAchievement Academy of Durham, located at 1905 Chapel Hill Road in Durham, North Carolina, is a school that offers the Durham Literacy Center’s Youth Achievement Program (YAP). This program provides intensive, individualized high school equivalency instruction to out-of-school young adults ages 16-24 in a safe and supportive environment. With strong role models, academic, career, and social skills counseling, students have the opportunity to explore various post-secondary and career pathways. The program, which meets Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is free of charge and includes pre-testing to determine each student's current level and personal goals. Small group classes are then assigned based on these assessments, with two experienced teachers providing direct instruction daily. Students also have access to computer-assisted instruction to improve specific skills and accelerate learning.
