"I wanted to like this place but it left much to be desired. The coffee was burnt tasting and not very good. They didn't have a lot of options for flavors, nothing sugar free and limited alternative milk. The beignets were good but what fried dough isn't? A mess in a paper bag is what they ended up being. The staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there and the wait was much longer than it needed to be. Almost no room inside, luckily they had outdoor seats and the Grove had seats available too. Left much to be desired."
"What a gem of a place. A local who was performing music on the street actually recommended it to my friend and me; we’re visiting from out of town. I found the coffee to be decadent and strong. I’d never heard of sandwiches where beignets are used as the “bread.” It’s rich and over-filling, but we’re visiting from out of town, and we are here to treat ourselves. I found myself thinking of the meal all day, and was back another morning for another round. Service was timely and typical. The atmosphere is meh, but I was quick to get my food and sit outside."
"Melts in you're mouth goodness! Arrived when they 1st opened. We split the classic beignets (3 in an order) with chocolate... Mmm piping hot and the chocolate was just the right amount of sweet. We also shared the Plain Jane sandwich, you better like egg because there's a generous portion of it. The bread is so savory and buttery. Just delicious! We would definitely come back but not too soon. It's way to rich to eat often."
"Service was incredibly slow as it took at least 10 minutes before they’d even take your order, which is awkward to just stand there watching them make orders 3 feet away from you and entirely ignore you. The beignets are just fine, nothing special, way too big and soppy with the fry oil. If you can eat them immediately when they are hot and fresh then it’s better, but because they are so big the longer it takes you to eat the more it cools and you realize it’s just meh. The golden milk latte sounded interesting but was ultimately gross, very very strong on the cardamom and a thick layer of spices in the bottom of the drink and on top of it that leave a gritty mouth feel. Highly recommend the “Goat” but only because goat cheese and jam and meat are delicious together, even without the beignets."
