Logan Community Day Care - Food Distribution Center
Logan Community Day Care - Food Distribution Center is a vital institution located at 204 Booker Drive Southwest in Concord, North Carolina, United States. Originally established through the collaborative efforts of churches, organizations, and government agencies, this facility provides educational child care experiences for children from low-income families. The institution was founded by Marian W. Boyd and members of the Charlotte A. Percival Club of Federated Women, with the goal of supporting parents who may struggle to afford preschool care for their children. The first facility opened in the Logan Homes Housing Project, with Grace O’Neal as the dedicated teacher. Despite financial challenges, the daycare ensured that children did not go hungry, thanks to the generosity of local business owner Mr. Swaringen. With the support of John Larkin, the daycare obtained certification and licensing from the state of North Carolina, becoming the first licensed daycare in Cabarrus County.
