Chavis Community Center, located at 505 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a historic institution with a rich history. Home to the Allan Herschell No. 2 Special Three-Abreast Carousel since 1937, the center was added to the National Register of Historic Places in April 2016. The park also features a half-mile section of the Capital Area Greenway Trail. The community center offers a variety of amenities, including a newly renovated fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment and a stunning view of the downtown skyline. The gymnasium features maple flooring and is available for rent, as is the second-floor indoor track. The carousel, purchased in 1937 for $4,000, is a popular attraction with a Wurlitzer 146A band organ.
