The Educational Opportunity Center programs were established under the 1972 Amendments of the Higher Education Act of 1965 to serve individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. AEOC is one of only three TRIO EOCs in New York State and the only one outside of New York City. The center is funded to serve over 1,000 students annually in the target area.
Services provided by AEOC include assistance for first-generation students meeting income guidelines. Taxable income information is required on the application per grant regulations. The center helps individuals calculate their taxable income using specific formulas and provides guidance on deductions. Overall, AEOC is dedicated to helping community members achieve their educational and career goals.
