The most active spirit, Annette Williamson, a young girl from the 1700s, is said to still reside in the Old Field Room after being wrongfully accused and violently murdered. Guests, especially children, have reported seeing her spirit and even dancing outside in the morning mist. The restaurant has also been a meeting place for famous figures like Thomas Hadaway and William Sydney Mount, who held occult meetings here. Originally known as the “1710 House”, the institution has evolved over the years to become “The Country House Restaurant”, maintaining the legacy of its original owner, Mr. Thomas Wendelken.
