Grasse River Heritage is a non-profit organization located at 2 Main Street in Canton, New York, dedicated to restoring the Grasse River to its central place in the community. The organization opened Heritage Park in 2008, which is situated on the traditional territory of the Akwesasne Mohawk people. The park features beautifully landscaped Coakley Island with a picnic pavilion, a historic footbridge leading to Falls Island, and interpretive signage explaining the natural and cultural history of the site. In addition to Heritage Park, Grasse River Heritage also manages Dwight Church Park and Willow Island Sculpture Garden, featuring outdoor works of art by renowned sculptors.
