About the Business

Welcome to Indian Creek Nature Center, a serene haven dedicated to fostering environmental education and appreciation for nature and conservation. Nestled at 770 County Road 14 in Rensselaer Falls, New York, our park serves as a vibrant hub for nature enthusiasts across St. Lawrence and surrounding counties.
At Indian Creek Nature Center (ICNC), we are committed to providing enriching educational experiences year-round. Our recent Conservation Field Days event welcomed over 700 fifth-grade students, offering them engaging programs on topics ranging from reptiles and amphibians to outdoor skills and forestry. With twenty knowledgeable presenters, students explored the wonders of nature and learned about crucial conservation efforts.
As a not-for-profit organization operated by North Country Conservation-Education Associates, Inc., ICNC relies on the support of memberships, grants, and donations to maintain our facilities and programs. Our mission is guided by a dynamic Master Plan that ensures we continue to meet our short and long-term goals while remaining adaptable to new ideas and community needs.
Explore our beautiful trails and natural attractions by visiting either of our two entrances on County Route 14, conveniently connecting State Route 68 to the Village of Rensselaer Falls. The east entrance offers access to the Wildflower Loop and Upland Trail, while the main entrance leads to the Boardwalk, Observation Deck, Lowland, and Observation Tower Trails.
Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or a curious explorer, Indian Creek Nature Center invites you to discover and appreciate the rich biodiversity of our region. Join us in our mission to promote environmental awareness and stewardship for future generations.
For more information, reach out to our dedicated team, including Co-Presidents Cathy Shrady & Tom Van de Water, Vice President Blanche Town, Treasurer Tom Wheeler, and Secretary Anne Csete. We look forward to welcoming you to Indian Creek Nature Center, where nature and learning come together.

"Generally quiet and outstanding location to view various wildlife. Trails are well maintained and easily walked. If you are allergic to bee stings bring your shot, No one I have been with has been stung, but the entrance to the wood walkway always has a large amount of bees, wasps and others. Generally non aggressive, but enough to intimidate anyone with a fear and certainly reason enough for concern if allergic. We have seen red and gray squirrels, brown creeper, wood duck, yellow rumped warbler, northern harrier, kingfisher, flycatchers, green frogs, garter snakes, and dozens more. It is our favorite place to visit when in the area."
"Absolutely gorgeous, sadly we walked up for the Marsh Overlook and it was knocked down (I'm assuming by wind). The walk was great, muddy as expected from the recent rain though. We really enjoyed the walk and plan on coming back to do the observation tower trail when it's not muddy."
"Miles of well maintained hiking trails with superb flora and fauna on view."
"This place is so beautiful especially in the winter. My sister and I took the kids here yesterday. They enjoyed getting pulled in there sleds. The watch tower is there favorite. We love this place!"
"One of my favorite places for an easy hike along the woods in North Country. The view is spectacular this time of the year in October. Many birds also inhabit this nature reserve; we saw a great blue heron, a kingfisher, a bald eagle, and small birds yesterday (10/14/19). Yes, beware and be aware of ticks, but as long as you're cautious, you should be ok; you can shower and wash your clothes immediately after you get home."
