This is the fourth historical marker placed by the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating a momentous event where more than 4,000 fans witnessed Ruth hit an astonishing 500-foot home run and Gehrig secure three hits against Addie Klein’s Lindenhurst Nine. After the game, these legends enjoyed a drink at the nearby Plaza, a hotel, restaurant, and bar on Montauk Highway.
