Welcome to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame x Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Historical Marker, a must-visit destination for baseball enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Situated on South 2nd Street in Lindenhurst, New York, this historical site commemorates the legendary barnstorming game played by baseball icons Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on the very same spot in 1930. This is the fourth historical marker placed by the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating a momentous event where more than 4,000 fans witnessed Ruth hit an astonishing 500-foot home run and Gehrig secure three hits against Addie Klein’s Lindenhurst Nine. After the game, these legends enjoyed a drink at the nearby Plaza, a hotel, restaurant, and bar on Montauk Highway.
