Welcome to BEDT Locomotive #16, proudly housed at the Railroad Museum of Long Island, located at 416 Griffing Avenue, Riverhead, New York. As we embark on our thirty-fourth season, join us in celebrating a landmark year for railroading on Long Island. This year, we honor the 190th anniversary of the Long Island Rail Road, the 60th anniversary of the LIRR Allan Herschel G-16 Park Train, and the 180th anniversary of the first train to Greenport. Our museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich history of Long Island's railroads. With facilities in both Riverhead and Greenport, we invite you to explore our collection of historic rail cars, locomotives, and interactive exhibits. Experience a ride on our miniature LIRR park train from the 1964 New York World’s Fair, or step inside a 1960s LIRR caboose. Our historic Lionel Layout, with its 83 accessories, is a must-see for model train enthusiasts.
