"I came to La Esencia a few weeks ago with a conundrum- I needed a very specific type of leather paint for an emergency work project, and I didn’t have time to wait for something to be shipped to me. None of the local art stores or cobblers had it in stock or were willing to sell it to me, and the very last place I called was La Esencia because it was either that, or drive all the way to Manhattan. Rolando was very understanding of my situation, and invited me to come to the shop so I could check his personal stock of leather paint. When I arrived, not only was I treated with total kindness, but Rolando agreed to sell me his last jar of the hyper-specific leather paint I needed, and walked me through the steps of how to use it. He even cut me up some sponges to use as applicators and gave me tips on how to keep the paint unscuffed once applied! His kindness, knowledge, and patience made me a customer for life, and I’ve recommended him and La Esencia to everyone I work with. He’s a good man, and he knows his craft extremely well!"
"Poorly staffed. Line of four customers at counter whilst two cobblers work behind a screen, and neither comes to ask whether any customers (like myself) are just coming to pick up an order and hand them cash. As it turns out, the job promised the day before was not ready, which meant that I had to wait longer after making an hour’s trip to this place. That said, the workmanship was exceptional, and the price very fair."
