Ocean Air - Plumbing & Heating

"Ocean Air Services is a plumbing, heating and air conditioning company located in Quogue. I had a leaking vented back flow valve in my natural gas boiler heating system that caused damage to the surrounding pipes and the valve itself. I was advised that the cause of the damage was a limescale build up on the valve and pipes because of hard water. Frank, the owner of the plumbing division of the company, came out to give me an estimate for a water treatment system to resolve the limescale issue I am having. Upon entrance to our basement he smelled a faint hint of natural gas. He advised he could have a plumber come out to our house and conduct a gas leak test - if no gas was detected he advised us he wouldn’t charge us for the call. He took the water sample (test results to follow) and had a plumber to our house the next day to conduct the gas leak test. Kurt Meyer (the plumber) came by at 7:30 am and didn’t leave until 3:15 pm - he did the following work: walked the length of the basement with a gas detection meter and found three leaks - one where the gas enters the heating system; one where the gas meter is located outside the house and the last one where the natural gas bbq grill is located. He fixed the first two (he will be back next week to fix the leak at the bbq). He also changed the leaking valve and adjacent boiler pressure feed valve and drained and pressurized the system. He had to go back to the office to get more parts and cut pipe to fit on the outside of the house near the meter. This work takes a long time and and is very difficult what with tight spaces, stuffy basements, and me asking a million questions but Kurt was the true and consummate professional - he was patient, respectful, articulate and immaculate in his work and clean up of his work. I learned a great from him (Frank, as well, the day before) about my heating system and Ocean Air Services didn’t even install my system. I will never use any company other than Ocean Air Sevices for my plumbing, heating and air conditioning needs. Part 2 of the review - repair of the bbq gas line. Kurt Meyer came out on TU, 8/13, at 8:00 am and was here until approximately 1:30. He had to dig a trench in order to remove the old and rusty galvanized pipe, but prior to that he had to shut off the gas. He also repaired a section of the gas line in the basement and he changed an old valve on the gas stove. He worked in that blazing sun all day digging that trench and laying that pipe and he had a smile on his face the whole time. When he was done it didn’t even look like he had been here - he cleaned up all the debris as if it was his own house. Can’t say enough good things about him and Ocean Air Plumbing and HVAC. Just wish I knew about them sooner."
