LIBI Commack
LIBI Commack, located at 6500 Jericho Turnpike in Commack, New York, was a renowned institution that served as a beacon of higher education in the local community for over 55 years. With additional campuses in Manhattan and Queens, LIBI was dedicated to providing quality education to its students. Unfortunately, the institution permanently closed its doors on January 27, 2024. However, former students have the opportunity to continue their education through teach-out agreements with SUNY Empire and Five Towns College. These agreements ensure that students can complete their studies with minimal disruption. Current LIBI Court Reporting students and those who last attended as Court Reporting students within one year of the closing date have the opportunity to participate in the teach-out program. Additionally, 1098T forms for 2023 will be mailed to students by the IRS deadline of January 31, 2024. LIBI voluntarily withdrew its recognition through the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges effective January 27, 2024. While the closure of LIBI marks the end of an era, the legacy of excellence and dedication to higher education will endure as a testament to the transformative power of knowledge.
