"M2 Speed, Strength, and Performance Five months ago, at age 73 and 8 years into my Parkinson’s Disease journey, I made a decision that may well change the course of my remaining years. The unrelenting Parkinson’s fatigue had all but destroyed my life activities and pharmaceuticals had proven to be of limited help. I had repeatedly read, and been told by the doctors, that exercise was strongly recommended to reduce PD symptoms. But my attempts to follow this advice quickly revealed the inherent dilemma: two of the many symptoms of Parkinson’s are fatigue and sleep difficulties, which when combined, make it extremely difficult to embark on a serious exercise program. I was simply too tired and weak to plan and maintain any type of meaningful, consistent exercise. So I joined a gym, “M2 Speed, Strength, and Performance” in Peekskill, N.Y. and signed up for personal training sessions with coach Craig Machado. I’m so glad I did. Just two sessions a week with an inspiring, professional, supportive coach have replaced some of the self-image that Parkinson’s had stolen, and have begun to build back some of the atrophied muscle that comes with age and inactivity. And these two gains have increased my desire to carve out time on non-session days to build upon the positive session results. It’s an attitudinal change that usually powers through the daily fatigue problem and gets the job done. One last thing. I have had a “bad back” from construction work for 45 years. After 5 months with Coach Craig, I am experiencing an unexpected and unbelievable “come back”. The best."
