The Mill House
Welcome to The Mill House, a historical gem nestled in the serene setting of Setauket-East Setauket, New York. Situated at the scenic address of Setauket- East Setauket, New York 11733, The Mill House is a tribute to the rich history of the area, tracing back to the first grist mill constructed in 1665. Originally located at the south end of the pond, the mill was relocated northward as the pond underwent natural changes over the centuries. In 1936, the mill's legacy was revived when Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hawkins entrusted the mill and the miller’s cottage to the Melville family. With a vision to preserve history, Richard Haviland Smythe was commissioned to construct a simulated mill featuring a working water wheel, celebrating the enduring legacy of the mills that once graced the pond. Today, this operational wheel stands as a testament to the area's past and serves as the headquarters for the picturesque Frank Melville Park.
